Sarkissian in Tbilisi to Attend 100th Anniversary of First Georgian Republic
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian is in Tbilisi at the invitation of Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili to attend ceremonies marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Georgia on May 26, 1918.
Sarkissian today met with Margvelashvili, thanking him for the invitation and the warm reception he’s received in Georgia.
Noting that Armenia would be celebrating the 100th anniversary of its own first republic in a few days, Sarkissian said that for Georgians and Armenians the ideal of freedom is at the core of these anniversaries; an ideal that continues today.
Sarkissian has invited Margvelashvili to Yerevan to attend celebrations marking the founding of the first Armenian republic on May 28, 1918.
