Armenian President Attends First Republic Reception in Washington D.C.

During his three-day visit to the United States, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian attended at reception in the Senate’s Dirksen Building to mark the 100th anniversary of the first Republic of Armenia.

Sarkissian spoke about the importance of the first Armenian republic, stressed the need for the strengthening of Armenia-U.S. ties, and urged Armenians to build a strong and developed country they could all be proud of.

“Our message of today is clear. We must win. Not only are we capable of building a new Armenia, but that Armenia must be strong and a country we can all feel proud of; to be proud to be Armenians,” Sarkissian said.

The reception was organized by the Armenian Embassy in the U.S., the Eastern Central Board of the ARF,and the Washington DC Hay Tad branch.
