Scores of members of the Armenian Deaf Society demonstrated outside the Government Building in Yerevan today demanding the resignation of its president, Grigor Grigoryan.
They accuse Grigoryan of disregarding their concerns, of selling NGO property, and forging documents to show that the NGO has convened a special convention when it hasn’t.
The demonstrators say that Grigoryan is avoiding a convention because he knows members will vote him out of office.
NGO members have been gathering near the building, located on Yeznik Koghpatsi Street, for the past few days. Grigoryan has issued orders not to permit them inside.
The demonstrators handed a letter to a government staffer calling on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to launch an investigation of the NGO and its president.
