Gegharkunik Provincial Governor Ishkhan Saghatelyan officially announced the opening of the summer vacation season at a ceremony on the shores of Lake Sevan.

Saghatelyan told the crowd that to better serve the record numbers of vacationers expected at Sevan three public no-fee beaches have been created and that medical emergency personnel will be on hand from 9am to 7pm.

“In the past, Sevan was utilized carelessly. The time has come to preserve Sevan and to develop it. We’ve drafted a number of projects regarding Sevan and are working to achieve them,” said Saghatelyan.

Also on hand at the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Gnel Sanosyan, the mayor of Sevan, and officials from Sevan National Park.
