Serzh Sargsyan's Nephew Charged with Attempted Murder

Hayk Sargsyan, nephew of former president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, has been charged with attempted murder, this according to Investigative Committee (IC).

On April 1, 2007, a man called Davit Simonyan was struck by gunfire on a Yerevan street and hospitalized. Simonyan survived.

Later that day, a man turned himself in to police, claiming that he found the gun and that it misfired.  The case was dropped in late May.

The General Prosecutor’s Office has reopened the case based on new evidence pointing to Hayk Sargsyan as the gunman.
