Perhaps responding to rumors that a section of the Holy Geghard lance had been gifted to a Russian mayor, Catholicos Garegin II today removed the relic from the Etchmiadzin Reliquary-Museum  and used it during an evening church service in the Mother Cathedral.

The lance, once kept at the Geghard Monastery, is alleged to have been the one used to pierce the side of the crucified Jesus.
