Acting on an anonymous tip, police launched an investigation into the activities of Nikoghos Gasparyan, a rector at the Viktor Hambardzumyan Pedagogical Institute of Vardenis, and claim that from 2014-2018 he deliberately failed to record all the tuition fees paid by students, thus evading paying 6.230 million drams in tax.

Gasparyan is also charged with issuing a diploma to an individual who neither paid tuition nor attended class.
