Yerevan residents will go to the polls on September 23 to elect a new municipal council.

Four political parties - Heritage, Civil Contract, Yerkir Tsirani and Prosperous Armenia - say they will field candidates in the election.

Once formed, the council will then elect a new Yerevan mayor to replace Taron Margaryan who resigned in July.
