Armenian Government to Shut Down the Center for Strategic Initiatives

Today's session of the Armenian government was led by First Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, since Prime Minister NikolPashinyan is in France. The government decided to allocate 33 million 292 thousand drams from the budget of the current year to the Prime Minister's staff to organize the liquidation process of the Center for Strategic Initiatives foundation.

According to the draft decision, the above-mentioned amount includes wages, final payment, allowances and penalties for early termination of the contracts.

The Center for Strategic Initiatives was founded by Alexander Khachaturyan, adviser to former Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan. Russian-Armenian businessman Ruben Vardanyan was one of the members of the Board of Trustees. At NikolPashinyan’s recent meeting with businessmen in Russia, Vardanyan asked about the reasons for the liquidation of the center, and Pashinyan said that the foundation hadn’t served its purpose.
