Pashinyan Wants to Curb Betting Parlors in Yerevan

In this video of today’s government cabinet session, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is seen instructing officials to take rational measures to limit the number of betting parlors in Yerevan.

Describing these establishments as “street snares”, Pashinyan argued that the recent economic activity uptick in Armenia was largely due to increased betting in Armenia during the summer’s World Cup.

“Our young guys betted heavily on the games and many lost,” Pashinyan said, adding that this is a serious structural issue in a country like Armenia with a 30% poverty rate.
