12:53, January 20, 2012In an open letter to the Armenian press, the Sardarapat Movement argues that the burgeoning environmental movement in Armenia is a sign that there is hope for alternative social and political forces to tackle the numerous issues facing the country.
Sardarapat states that while the current regime continues to rape the land for personal and short-term gain, there are growing numbers of concerned Armenians, especially young people, who are actively taking matters into their own hands against such state-sponsored moves.
Sardarapat also call for the creation of support foundations that will assist the various environmental action groups in Armenia to draft “green business” projects in the country that will both create jobs while protecting the country’s fragile environment.
