Yerevan Meeting Explores Measures Designed to Reveal True Owners of Armenia's Mining Companies

Armenian Deputy Minister of Justice Suren Krmoyan yesterday, in Yerevan, met with officials from the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), which touts itself as the global standard to promote the open and accountable management of oil, gas and mineral resources.

The officials were EITI Deputy Head Eddie Rich and EITI Country Manager Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia Oliana Valigura.

A ministry press release says the meeting dealt with upcoming measures designed to reveal the real owners of Armenia’s mining extraction companies.

Krmoyan said these transparency measures might also be applied to other sectors of the economy.
