Pashinyan on May Day: "Straighten Your Backs and Get to Work"

On May 1, International Workers’ Day, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had little to say about workers’ rights, focusing instead on encouraging personal initiative and a willingness to work as the basis for his much-heralded “economic revolution”.

In a government statement released on the occasion, Pashinyan congratulated all on the occasion of May 1 and said:

“Our steps will be directed towards changing the economic behavior of each citizen, as an object of economic activity, as well as a subject of economic activity.”

Pashinyan called on people to “straighten their backs, believe in their powers, and get rich and enrich by their work.”

The Armenian Prime Minister said his government would protect workers’ rights by raising the quality level of the country’s workforce through reforms in the education sector.

Pashinyan said such steps would guarantee that college graduates entering the workplace would be qualified and competitive.

“The Armenian people have always stood out by their work, diligence, enthusiasm and creativity. I am certain that together we will achieve our aims and make our country prosper and grow through our labor,” said Pashinyan.
