Armenian President Hosts Relatives of Pilots Killed During Artsakh War of Liberation
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian today received relatives of military pilots who died during the Artsakh Liberation War.
“To serve the homeland and to sacrifice one’s life is the highest virtue of humanity. But to be the widow of a hero and to continue to live a dignified life afterwards is another form of heroism,” Sarkissian noted, according to a government press release.
Sarkissian said that resolving the issues faced by the relatives of those killed in the war remains a top priority for the government.
May 9, Victory and Peace Day in Armenia, is a triple holiday marking the defeat of Nazi Germany, the liberation of the Artsakh town of Shushi from Azerbaijan in 1992, and the formation of the Artsakh Defense Army that same year.
