Armenian Defense Minister Meets with OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs

Armenian Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan today, in Yerevan, met with the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group (Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, Andrew Schofer of the United States of America, and Stéphane Visconti of France), as well as with the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged their views on the situation at the Line of Contact and at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

Minister Tonoyan, according to an defense ministry statement, emphasized the importance of the establishment of ongoing contact between the political leaderships of Armenia and Azerbaijan, formulated in October 2018 and reaffirmed  the need to sustain such communication between the military leaderships along the Line of Contact.

Tonoyan noted Azerbaijan’s large-scale military maneuvers in May and the recent increase in the number of ceasefire violations, including the use of snipers, committed by Baku.

The Armenian defense minister said that despite such negative tendencies, Armenia remains committed to maintain the ceasefire regime and the prevention of such incidents.
