Former Armenian Police Deputy Commander Arrested on Suspicion of Killing March 1, 2008 Protester

Gegham Petrosyan, who served as a  deputy commander of Armenian police troops during the March 2008 post-election protests, was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of killing an anti-government protester in Yerevan at the time.

Armenia’s Special Investigative Service (SIS) says Petrosyan is suspected of deliberately shooting Zakar Hovannisyan, one of the eight protesters killed during the protests following the contested February 2008 presidential election.
