Armenian National Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan today met with Uruguayan House of Representatives President Cecilia Botino on the sidelines of the international Forum for Parliamentarism Development being held in Moscow. 

Mirzoyan, according to an Armenian government press release, stressed that the relations between Armenia and Uruguay are based on long-term friendship and mutual trust.

Mirzoyan also  congratulated Botino on his election as chairman of the House of Representatives.

Botino noted since his election he has met with Armenian community members and that Armenians play a significant role in the social and political life of Uruguay.

Botino said that the Uruguay parliament annually commemorates the victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide.
