Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and his wife Nuneh Sarkissian attended celebrations in Gyumri today marking the 28th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.

In the Black Fortress of Gyumri, Mr. and Mrs. Sarkissian, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan and other high-ranking officials and guests attended the "Hero of Our Time" award ceremony.

President Sarkissian handed a prize to one of the 13 winners.

Offering his congratulations on the occasion,  President Sarkissian said: "I would like to sincerely thank the prime minister for this wonderful idea, for its implementation, and for the fact that we have all come together here in Gyumri and are honoring our heroes today."
