
Armenian Economy Minister and IMF Delegation Discuss Structural Reforms
Armenian Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan today, in Yerevan, received a delegation led by Athanasios Arvanitis Deputy Director of the International Monetary Fund's Middle East and Central Asia Department.
Khachatryan, according to a government press release, welcomed the delegation to Armenia, stressing that the meeting was a good opportunity to summarize the results of the visit and answer the questions of the specialists.
Arvanitis thanked the minister for the meeting and proposed that the sides discuss the progress of structural reforms in Armenia.
At the request of the IMF delegation, Minister Khachatryan presented the indicators of Armenia's economy and forecasts of upcoming economic indicators.
The minister also provided operational data on specific areas of interest to the IMF representatives.
The meeting focused on human capital, capacity building, competitiveness and productivity in the economy. Mutual importance was given to the introduction of new technologies and capacity building as a stimulus for productivity growth.
