Prime Minister Pashinyan: “The Armenian people will never forget Chirac’s sincere friendship”
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today visited the Embassy of the French Republic in the Republic of Armenia to express his condolences to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacotte, the embassy staff and the friendly French people on the passing of ex-President of France Jacques Chirac.
Pashinyan wrote the following in the embassy’s book of condolences.
“The news of the passing of ex-French President Jacques Chirac was received with great pain in Armenia. France has lost a great statesman and a great man.
President Chirac was one of the symbols of the awakening of the Armenian-French interstate relations. The Armenian people will never forget his sincere friendship and the valuable contribution made to the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, as well as the mediation efforts for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. His state visit to Armenia was a great event for us.
The demise of Jacques Chirac is a great loss for everyone. I express my deepest condolences to the friendly people of France, the French state, as well as Jacques Chirac’s family and relatives.
His name will forever remain in our hearts and souls.”
