Armen Gyulbudaghyants, head coach of the Armenian national football team, has resigned. This is reported by the official website of the Football Federation of Armenia.

The Football Federation of Armenia released the following statement on the occasion.

“I have been the head coach of the Armenian national team for a year. There have been moments of both joy and sadness during the team's performances. The qualifying round is not over yet, but I have made a difficult decision to step down as the head coach of the team, as I have failed to justify the hopes of Armenian fans to take the team to the final of the European Championship. Now, our opportunities are purely theoretical, and although I was not initially assigned such a task, I have always felt responsible. I would like to thank the coaching staff, the medical and service staff, the football players, the president of the Football Federation of Armenia and all the staff who have always supported and created good working conditions for this exciting and difficult journey. I thank all the fans who supported us during the most difficult times,” said Armen Gyulbudaghyants.

Football Federation of Armenia President Artur Vanetsyan thanked Armen Gyulbudaghyants for the work he has done over the past year.

“Within a year, Armen Gyulbudaghyants has shown himself to be a high-class professional, and has stood out with his human qualities. It was very difficult for me to accept the coach's resignation, but during our conversation Armen Gyulbudaghyants did not change his decision. I am confident that our coach's one year of work and the foundation he installed will bring results in the future. I thank   Armen Gyulbudaghyants for the dedicated work he has done, and I am sure we will still have opportunities for cooperation," Vanetsyan said.
