New Stamp Commemorates 100th Anniversary of First Armenian Stamp
As part of a philatelic exhibition at the National Polytechnical University in Yerevan dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first Armenian stamp, HayPost today canceled and put into circulation a stamp dedicated to “Armenian History. 100th Anniversary of the First Stamp in Armenia”.
40,000 copies of the stamp, with a nominal value of 230 AMD, was printed by the French Cartor company.
The stamp was designed by HayPost’s David Dovlatyan.
The postage stamp depicts a definitive stamp of the Russian Empire with the nominal value of 1 kop., which served as the first postage stamp for the first Republic of Armenia in 1919. An overprint “К. 60. К” is done on the postage stamp.
