Qatar Lifts Visa Requirement for Citizens of Armenia

Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and the President of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a private meeting in the Emirate of Qatar today.

Welcoming the President of Armenia and emphasizing their years of excellent personal relations, Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani congratulated the opening of the Armenian Embassy in Qatar, noting that the two countries have wonderful relations.

President Sarkissian, according to an Armenian government press release, expressed gratitude to the Emir for the cancellation of the visa requirement for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, as well as for the active support provided to the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the State of Qatar.

Sarkissian expressed confidence that the cancellation of the visa requirement would have a positive impact on the further promotion of economic, cultural, scientific, educational and especially tourism links.

The two officials underlined the great potential of cooperation between the two friendly countries, the importance of expanding and strengthening relations. As possible areas of cooperation, they cited health, education, research, and the opportunity to study in Doha.
