Yerevan Mayor and Asian Development Bank Officials Discuss Infrastructure Issues
Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan today discussed infrastructure issues with an Asian Development Bank (ADB) delegation led by ADB Country Director for Armenia Paolo Spantigati.
Mayor Marutyan, according to a Yerevan Municipality press release, said he wanted to explore new sectors of cooperation with the ADB.
Spantigati replied that the ADB, besides being a financial institution, also promotes the development of modern urban infrastructure and stressed that the bank is willing to partner with and support the municipality by participating in new programs to make Yerevan more comfortable to live in.
ADB-financed new roads are currently being built around Yerevan's city center.
Mayor Hayk Marutyan attached importance to ADB's involvement in the development of infrastructure in Yerevan, noting that the construction of bypasses will greatly contribute to solving one of the key issues of the city – increasing traffic jams.
