Armenian Civil Aviation Committee Says Planes Should Avoid Flying Over Iraq and Iran
Armenia’s Civil Aviation Committee is recommending that airlines registered in Armenia temporarily bypass the airspace of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran at all altitudes.
The recommendation follows the crash of a Ukrainian International Airlines airplane in Tehran on January 8.
Iran has admitted that it’s armed forces accidentally shot down a Ukrainian passenger aircraft shortly after take-off from Tehran.
In a Facebook post today, the CAC writes that it is monitoring developments in the Middle East and is working with Iranian and international aviation authorities to ensure air travel safety.
