Section of Yerevan's "Kond Mosque" Collapses

A section of the wall of the Tepebaşı (Thapha Bashi) Mosque in Yerevan’s Kond neighborhood collapsed today.

The mosque was built in the late 17th century in Kond, one of the three original quarters of Yerevan.

Today, only the 1.5-meter-thick walls and sections of the mosque’s perimeter roof still stand.

After the 1915 Armenian Genocide, seventeen Armenian families took refuge in the mosque.

The main dome of the mosque collapsed in the 1960s.
