Sinanyan to Georgian Armenians: "Maintain Strong Bonds with the Homeland"

On the last day of his working visit to Georgia, Armenian Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan met with Armenians in Akhalkalaki today and told them to maintain strong bonds with Armenia.

"We want you to feel the breath of the Republic of Armenia, to understand that in the homeland they think and remember you and are interested that you become full citizens of Georgia and enjoy all the rights that democratic Georgia grants its citizens. We want your connection with Armenia to be kept strong,” said Sinanyan.

During a Q&A session, audience members asked about educational, socio-economic and legal issues.

Importance was attached to the issue of increasing the number of free tuition spots in the Armenian Studies in Armenian universities for diaspora students.

Sinanyan noted that at present 70 students from the diaspora are offered the opportunity to study at no cost at Armenian Studies faculties in Armenia, but this number is quite low.

Sinanyan then traveled to Ninotsminda and met with local Armenians, summarizing the results of his visit to Georgia. The participants of the meeting raised questions concerning their education, cultural issues, dual citizenship and more.
