Armenian Foreign Minister and International Atomic Energy Agency Head Discuss Nuclear Security

Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, now in Austria on a working visit, today met with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Mnatsakanyan, according to a press release issued by his ministry, noted that Armenia, as an advocate of the peaceful use of atomic energy, attaches great importance to cooperation with the IAEA.

 The two sides touched upon several issues on the Armenia IAEA agenda, specifically the safe operation of the Metzamor Nuclear Power Plant, the development of atomic energy and nuclear security.

Grossi highly appreciated Armenia's ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing security in the field of nuclear energy.

Mnatsakanyan underlined the importance of the peaceful use of atomic energy in Armenia’s economic development.

Armenian Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Hakob Vardanyan was also present at the meeting.
