February 20, 1988: Pashinyan Marks Artsakh Revival Day

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan issued the following congratulatory message today to commemorate the day, in February 1988, when the Regional Soviet of Karabakh voted to unite the region with Armenia.

 Dear compatriots,

I cordially congratulate us all on this historic Artsakh Revival Day. On this day in 1988, the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Regional Council decided to become part of Armenia, to which not only the people of Armenia, but also all Armenians around the world expressed their full support.

On February 20, 1988, with the nationwide movement formed, the Armenian people once again demonstrated their unity, at a crucial moment, and the ability to unite and act decisively to achieve national goals.

The exercise of the right of nations to self-determination and democratic freedoms both in 1988 and today remains a clear target for us. And we are confident that we will achieve our goals through united efforts, as we are committed to the struggle and aspirations that will make Artsakh's path of freedom irreversible.

Long live Artsakh, Long live all Armenians!
