5.7 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Iran Turkey Borderr
A magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit Iran’s northwestern border with Turkey earlier today.
Iran is still assessing the damage in the province of West Azerbaijan.
Turkish public broadcaster TRT World said it affected about 43 villages in Turkey, killing at least nine.
The quake that hit at 9:24 a.m. local time (0622GMT) had a depth of 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) and the epicenter was Qotur district, according to the Iranian Seismological Center (IRSC).
