Eco-Forum at Mashtots Park Tomorrow at 3PM
A public “Eco-Forum” will take place tomorrow at Mashtots Park at 3pm where activists will provide a summary of the results of their actions to halt construction of commercial stalls in one of Yerevan’s last remaining green spaces.
Melik Amiryan (seen here) has been coming to the park on a daily basis and believes that the park will be saved from development.
Karineh Ghadyan, another young activist, told Hetq that she won’t leave the park until all the stalls that have been erected are demolished.
“The city must finally listen to the people’s demand and stop this construction,” she said.
Right now, further construction has been temporarily halted.
There are many at the park protesting during the day given that construction has ceased.
Melik said that would definitely change if construction starts up again.
“The people will remove these storefronts with their own hands,” he said.
