Armenian Health Minister, Iranian Ambassador Discuss Coronavirus Prevention

Armenian Health Minister Arsen Torosyan and Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri met today and discussed ongoing work to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Ambassador Zohouri, according to a statement released by Torosyan’s office, welcomed the opportunity to share the knowledge gained by Iran of late to halt the spread of the new coronavirus.

The ambassador said that as of March 2, 1,501 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Iran, resulting in the death of 66.

"Our country's experience has shown that preventative measures actions should be strengthened rather than treating it. This is important for Armenia as long as the problem hasn’t worsened," Zohouri said.

Torosyan and Zohouri agreed to establish direct contact with the Iranian Minister of Health.

"I hope that in the near future everything will be settled, and that life will continue normally," Torosyan said.
