Armenian President Signs Indoor Smoking Ban Bill
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian today signed into law several bills recently passed by the parliament including one that bans smoking in enclosed public spaces and all eateries.
Quoting Socrates, Sarkissian said: “If a person cares for his health, it is difficult to find a doctor who would know what’s better for him.”
Sarkissian said that such legislation could only facilitate better health habits, but that it is up to individuals to make their own decisions.
The president said that such laws are in the public interest and that the government has the responsibility to promote positive behavioral change.
