Armenian President Armen Sarkissian today sent a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping, congratulating the Chinese leader for the progress Beijing has made in the fight against the novel coronavirus.

According to a statement released by Sarkissian’s office, the Armenian president emphasized that the epidemic has been contained due to the decisive measures of the Chinese government, as well as the tireless and selfless dedication of the people.

"The novel coronavirus has once again proven that international solidarity and cooperation is the only effective way to deal with such global challenges, as no region of the world can prevent the spread of the virus."

Highlighting the consistent strengthening and deepening of traditional close cooperation with China, President Sarkissian expressed his deep gratitude for China's continued assistance to Armenia in preventing and overcoming the coronavirus.

Sarkissian said that Armenia could learn much from China to effectively halt the spread of the virus.
