Armenia: Demolition of Submerged Buildings in Lake Sevan Begins
The Armenian Ministry of the Environment says it has completed its inventory of public and private buildings along the shores of Lake Sevan under the 1,901.5-meter mark and that the next phase, that of dismantling the submerged structures, is underway.
State and community owned buildings are slated for dismantling in the first phase of the program.
The area of state and community buildings subject to dismantling or demolition is more than 4,900 square meters, and the total area of private buildings subject to demolition exceeds 68,000 square meters.
The ministry says that owners of private property subject to demolition have been sent notices to organize the work themselves. The state will demolish the buildings if the owners fail to do so.
Owners will have to reimburse the government if this is the case.
