Armenia’s Investigative Committee (IC) reports that fifteen people have already been arrested on suspicion of participating in a shootout and subsequent attack on a Gavar hospital on April 28 that resulted in the death of two and the wounding of four.

The IC, in a statement, says that another three people will be arrested on similar charges.

The trouble started with a shootout between two groups of armed men that left two dead and several others wounded.

The wounded were taken to a Gavar hospital.

Several hours later, friends and relatives of the murdered men broke through a police cordon and rushed into the hospital. They are reported to have smashed windows and doors.

The IC says the attackers stabbed two of the wounded individuals and another man who they believed were responsible for the killings.

 Gavar, a town of some 20,000, is the provincial capital of Gegharkunik.
