Armenia: Leopard Spotted in Tavush Province After 50 Year Absence
After an absence of fifty years, a Caucasian leopard has been spotted, by camera, in Armenia’s Tavush Province.
The leopard (Panthera pardus tulliana) was photographed by cameras installed by the Armenian branch of the World Wildlife Fund near the town of Yenokavan.
Tavush is now the fourth province in Armenia where leopards are known to live
The WWF together with the RA Ministry of Environment has implemented a leopard protection program in Armenia since 2002.
