
Armenia to Spend $4.5 Million on Housing for Refugees from Azerbaijan
The Armenian government today decided to launch the second phase of the housing program for people evicted from Azerbaijan during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
2.170 billion AMD ($4.5 million) will be allocated to provide 185 families now living in temporary housing in Yerevan’s Kentron, Erebuni, Nor Nork, Arabkir, Davtashen administrative districts with housing purchase vouchers.
In the previous stage of the program, in 2019, 1.5 billion drams was allocated to 112 families, living in temporary lodging in Yerevan’s Ajapnyak, Avan, Malatia-Sebastia, Nork-Marash, Kanaker-Zeytun administrative districts, in the form of housing vouchers.
The families can use the vouchers toward the purchase of permanent lodging.
Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan announced that due to the declaration of a state of emergency the deadline for using the vouchers will be extended.
