Archbishop Ateshyan to Address Constitutional Commission
Archbishop Aram Ateshyan, the Patriarchal Locum Tenens of Constantinople, will speak before the Turkish Parliament’s Constitutional Commission, this according to a report in the Turkish Star.
Archbishop Ateshyan is said to propose that equal rights for the country’s national minorities be enshrined in the new constitution. He is expected to raise the issue about the anti-Armenian slogans that were voiced during the “Khojaly” demonstration that took place on February 26 at Istanbul’s Taksim Square.
Bartholomew I, Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, has already appeared before the Commission.
