
Armenian Justice Minister and Iranian Ambassador Discuss Plight of Iranian Detainees in Armenia
Armenian Minister Rustam Badasyan today met with newly appointed Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Abbas Zohouri.
Badasyan, according to a statement released by his office, congratulated the Zohuri on the launch of his diplomatic mission in Armenia and expressed confidence that the friendly relations established between the two countries will continue with the same level of effectiveness.
Ambassador Zohouri thanked Rustam Badasyan for the meeting, stressed the deep historical and cultural past of Armenia and Iran and the current warm relations, and expressed confidence that the agreements reached within the framework of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission will be implemented for the benefit of the two peoples.
During the meeting, the two officials touched upon the issue of transferring Iranian convicts serving their sentences in Armenia to Iran, the conditions of detention of Iranian convicts and detainees in Armenian penitentiaries, and other issues.
