Open Society Foundations-Armenia: $600K to Combat Coronavirus
The Open Society Foundations-Armenia, in a statement issued today, reports that it has provided more than US$600,000 to battle the coronavirus in Armenia.
The statement reads, in part.
As part of the fight against Covid-19, the Foundation focuses on the protection of the rights of the elderly, the disabled, the chronically ill, the mentally ill, those living with HIV, victims of domestic violence, refugees, national minorities and socially vulnerable families.
To help the country's healthcare system fight the coronavirus and test the wider population, the Foundation has provided about $50,000 for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing.
Personal protective equipment and equipment were provided for physicians and medical staff at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19.
In addition, the Foundation has donated 10,000 personal protective masks to correctional facilities in Armenia.
The Foundation has ensured adequate health care to people living with HIV and palliative care beneficiaries who are at high risk for infection. 150 patients were provided with vital medicines.
