Armenian Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan, accompanied by the Head of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, Major General of Justice Arthur Goyunyan, today toured the Abovyan and Sevan penitentiaries to inspect the conditions in which detainees are held, the new food catering system, the quality of food provided and the health care services offered to the incarcerated.

According to a ministry statement, Badasyan spoke with the detainees, inquired about their concerns, and asked them to voice their opinions on the quality of food. The minister visited their cells, the kitchens, dormitories, gyms, libraries and medical units.

The detainees and convicts said they are satisfied with the quality of food and their living conditions.

Their main complaints were related to criminal cases and the postponement of court hearings for parole.
