Armenian Health Minister Approves Use of Remdesivir to Treat Severe Covid-19 Cases

Individuals suffering from severe Covid-19 in Armenia can now be treated with Remdesivir, a broad-spectrum antiviral medication, if they sign a consent decree.

Armenia’s Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan yesterday approved use of the drug in the medical centers that have been refitted for Covid-19 treatment. Physicians must presribe the drug for their patients.

The drug, developed by Gilead Sciences, has been imported to Armenia from the Indian company Hetero Labs Limited.

The main goal of such treatment is to prevent further progression of the disease.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has yet to approve a specific antiviral treatment for Covid-19.
