Armenia: Pair of Endangered Vultures Caught on Camera

The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets in Armenia reports that forest rangers have photographed a pair of nesting pair of bearded vultures (Gypaetus barbatus) in the Caucasus Wildlife Refuge (CWR).

The Caucasus Wildlife Refuge is a 5,000 hectares territory in the vicinity of Khosrov Forest State Reserve. 

The species is listed as “near threatened” according to the IUCN Red List.

According to Armenia’s Red Book, there are only 8-10 nesting pairs in the country.
