Armenian Environment Minister and UNDP Rep Discuss Lake Sevan
Armenian Minister of the Environment Romanos Petrosyan today met with a delegation led by Dmitry Mariyasin, the Resident Representative of the UN Development Program (UNDP) in Armenia.
Petrosyan briefed Mariyasin on the steps Armenia is taking to reverse the decades long neglect of Lake Sevan and improve the sustainable management of the lake.
Currently, the ministry is coordinating ten UNDP projects related to sustainable land and forest management, climate change mitigation in Armenia, development of forest and field fire management capacity, as well as reducing and scaling up investment risks for energy efficient modernization of buildings. The total budget of all the implemented programs is more than $35 million.
Armenian Deputy Minister of the Environment Irina Ghaplanyan also attended the meeting.
