Artsakh Defense Army: Azerbaijani Forces Haven't Captured Vardenis-Martakert Highway

Suren Sarumyan, Acting Head of the Artsakh Defense Army’s Public Relations Department, has denied claims that Azerbaijani military forces have taken control of the Vardenis-Martakert Highway.

The road links the town of Vardenis, in Armenia, to the northern Artsakh town of Martakert.

Sarumyan also announced that Armenian forces repelled an Azerbaijani attempt to capture Mt. Mrav (3,724 m), the highest peak in Artsakh.

The Mrav mountain range, some 70 kilometers long, forms the northern Line of Contact separating Artsakh and Azerbaijani forces.  Its southern slopes run through the Martakert region of Artsakh.

Sarumyan said that battles continue into the night.
