Armenian President Asks Arab Leaders to "Help Stop Bloodshed in Artsakh"

Armenian President Armen Sarkissian has written to the leaders of several Arab   countries regarding the hostilities unleashed by Azerbaijan on the Artsakh Line of Contact, asking them to use their international connections and authority to stop the "bloodshed and human suffering".

Sarkissian’s office has released the following transcript of a letter the Armenian president sent to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

I must inform you with regret and great dissatisfaction that Azerbaijan has launched another attack on the Artsakh Republic (Nagorno Karabakh) targeting its civilian population.

As I write this letter, dozens of civilians on both sides, military personnel, have already been killed or wounded.

The conflict can and must be resolved only through negotiations. There is no military settlement. We have proven this before and will do so again.

In the letter, Sarkissian noted that the Azerbaijani leadership, of late, has repeatedly voiced its intention to resolve the conflict through war.
