Artsakh Foreign Ministry Statement on UN Security Council Discussions
The Artsakh Foreign Ministry issued the following statement on the discussions of the UN Security Council on the fighting along the Artsakh-Azerbaijan border.
We note with satisfaction that following the closed-door discussions on the escalation of tensions in the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict zone on September 29, UN Security Council members strongly condemned the use of force and expressed support for the UN Secretary-General's call for an immediate end to hostilities, to reduce tensions and return to constructive negotiations.
The members of the UN Security Council expressed their full support for the central role of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. This statement made by the members of the Security Council to the press put an end to the speculations of the Azerbaijani authorities regarding their alleged right to use military force against the Artsakh Republic.
It is obvious that all the attempts made by Baku and Ankara to get any international support for their international illegal actions ended in complete failure.
Let us reiterate that the actions of Azerbaijan and Turkey, which threaten international peace and security in the South Caucasus, cannot be left without political and legal consequences.
By calling Baku to account, the international community will give the necessary impetus to reduce tensions and create conditions for a peaceful settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict.
