Artsakh Foreign Ministry: "Only International Recognition of Artsakh Can Restore Peace and Stability"

The Artsakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs today issued the following statement that calls on the international community to recognize the independence of the Artsakh Republic.

Since September 27, 2020, Azerbaijani armed forces with the support of Turkey and terrorist organizations from the Middle East have launched an aggressive war against the Republic of Artsakh.

Azerbaijan's wide-scale armed attack on the Republic of Artsakh is accompanied by serious violations of international humanitarian law, as well as laws and customs applied during armed conflict. In particular, Azerbaijani-Turkish armed groups deliberately shelling cities, villages and civilian objects of Artsakh in order to terrorize and destroy civilians. As a result of their criminal actions, there are numerous victims among civilians.

We welcome the efforts of the Heads of State Co-Chairpersons of the OSCE Minsk Group and the international community as a whole aimed at the immediate cessation of Azerbaijan's armed aggression and de-escalation of tensions. At the same time, we note that all the demands and calls of the international community are cynically rejected by the triple alliance of Turkey, Azerbaijan and terrorist organizations.

We call on the international community to recognize the independence of the Republic of Artsakh in order to ensure the rights of Artsakh citizens to life and peaceful development. Under the current circumstances, the international recognition of Artsakh is the only effective mechanism for restoring peace and security in the region.
