Vardenis Attack: Armenia Warns Baku of "Dire Consequences"

Armenia’s Foreign Ministry has condemned today’s Azerbaijani attack on Armenian military equipment on patrol in the Vardenis area of Armenia, warning that such attacks will have dire consequences for Azerbaijan.

“It is obvious that Azerbaijan not only refuses to carry out the ceasefire approved by the Russian, Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers on the initiative of Russian President Putin on October 10, but also seeks to expand the geography of the Karabakh conflict with an open provocation by launching an attack against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia,” the Armenian foreign ministry statement reads.

The ministry writes that the Azerbaijani argument, that the Armenian equipment was to be uses to strike civilians in Azerbaijan, is an outright lie.

"We strongly condemn Azerbaijan's attempt at armed aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia and caution that Azerbaijan’s provocative actions will have irreversible military-political consequences, for which the entire leadership of Azerbaijan is responsible."
